Installation Background Guide Live EPOS is designed to operate on several computers at once using serveral different systems. This means that there are several components to install. All of these components should be available on the installation CD. Web based locations are included below. There are some additional issues with Vista Components Windows:- LiveEPOS operates only on Windows 98 Second Edition or later computers. Windows .net:- Known as 'Dot Net' a Microsoft component for Windows is required (version 1.1), many Windows machines already have this installed. Otherwise please download and run dotnetfx. Sage Accounts:- One computer acting as the server needs to have Sage Accounts installed, all the other computers will look to this computer to get data out of Sage. Sage ODBC:- This component allows a connection to the Sage database on the server. If a computer doesn't have Sage installed it will need this component installing. The files can be found for this on your computer with Sage Installed in a direcory such as C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts\ODBC32. Copy this directory onto the target computer and run the file disk1\setup.exe. Sage Data Objects:- Unfortunately if Sage is not installed on a particular machine then a part of Sage called Sage Data Objects need installing. These might vary from version to version of Sage MySQL Database:- This component is a database for CounterSales data, only one is used per system and is normally on the same computer as the Sage Accounts system. You should install this from your installation disk, however if you have lost this a new version can be downloaded from the mysql site. MySQL Download. When installed the program code will be in a directory such as C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1. It needs to be running all the time and hence the service see faq "Check MySQL is Running". Some versions of MySQL do not automatically start a service. To do this see the Check MySQL is Running. LiveEPOS:- This is the live EPOS system iteself which can be downloaded from the download page CrystalReports:- Crystal reports is embedded in LiveEPOS and provides the reporting function. Generally its installation doesn't need any thought. However the installation of LiveEPOS places an authentication key for Crystal Reports into the PC's registry. On occasions VISTA security appears to not allow this update and it needs to be made by hand using RegEdit to add the keys. Typical Installations Server

Windows .Net Framework Alternatively you might have all the software on one computer:- Single Computer
SAGE Accounts (which includes SAGE ODBC) Configuration Files Most configuration is conducted from the parameters option in Live Epos itself. However on occasions it may be necessary to access the various configuration files, not all data is stored in files some is stored directly in teh liveEPOS database.:- C:\Program Files\GMT\Counter Sales\persist.config %TEMP%\liveEPOS.config Each user on a computer has one of these files the '%temp%' is a parameter that points to the users temporary files. This file contains the destination of the Sage Accounts database to connect to. LiveEPOS database. Data in the liveEPOS database is entered through the parameter screen inside the application. On first use it is necessary to press cancel on the login to get to the application and look at these parameters. It is necessary to set up at least one company on the parameters/company tab by pressing the 'Company List' button and entering the path for 'ACCDATA' used by Sage. On a standalone, single company machine this will probably be " c:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts\ACCDATA". Normally the cash account is "ZZZ".
Client Machines Without Sage Installing Sage Data Objects Copy the following files from the machine which has Sage Installed on it into the current machine (these files may be different for different versions of Sage hence this process may need repeating when Sage is updated) SDOENG100.dll contact support for assistance.
